The Old Post Office is exclusively managed by Sykes Holiday Cottages, they process all bookings to ensure the calendar is accurate at all times. We the owners, live in a neighbouring village and will be contactable should you need us anytime during your stay. Our contact details are in the housekeeping folder.
The Old Post Office is our forever home and we love our neighbours dearly. We kindly ask that you respect the 8 guest limit and we suggest that if you would like to hold a larger group gathering, that you do this away from the property at one of the many public venues nearby. It is important to us that our neighbours still enjoy their peace and quiet.
Two well behaved dogs are allowed but please respect the rule of keeping them off the lounge furniture and to be kept downstairs only. There is a stair gate at the bottom of the stairs to facilitate that. Please be aware the lounge has cream carpet, so please take advantage of using the hot and cold outside dog wash to clean your furry one's paws if they are muddy. Dog towels are also provided for your use.
Yes, linen and towels are included. However only 1 sheet will be provided for the travel cot, so we advise that you bring more sheets with you, should you wish to use the travel cot. Hot tub towels are also included.
A travel cot, high-chair, and baby bath are available on request. The mattress for the travel cot is an extra deep 13cm, suitable for sleeping on for longer amounts of time. 1 sheet will be provided for the travel, so please bring more with you (the mattress is 95cm x 65cm x 13cm) and a cot duvet if your child requires one. Stair gates are positioned to the top and bottom of the stairs. A fireguard is provided on the lounge. Young children and babies should not enter the hot tub, so please supervise children outside at all times.
Yes, there is wifi which is provided by Sky Broadband. Bear in mind however we are in the middle of the countryside, but it's perfectly adequate for browsing.
Due to the tranquil location, not all mobile network providers will work. However, there is a good signal with 'Three' and 'EE'. Should you have any issues with your provider, phone and video calls can still be made on your WhatsApp or similar, via the wifi.
Yes, a basket of logs is provided, along with some kindling and firelighters. Once you run out of these, you are able to purchase more from Buckland Newton stores. Which is just over a 5 minute drive away.
You will find Buckland Newton Stores just over a 5 minute drive away that stocks the essentials. However, you can be at Waitrose or Sainsburys supermarket in the nearby town of Sherborne in under 15 minutes.
North of Glanvilles Wootton there is a BP Petrol station located in Sherborne, just under 15 minute drive. There are various electric car charging points in Sherborne too. South of Glanvilles Wootton, there is a BP, Shell and Tesco Petrol Station in Dorchester. Where there are car charging points in various locations too. Just under a 20 minute drive.
