The local Farm Cafe is a mere 1.4 miles away, less than a 5 minute drive. But of curse it makes a lovely walk. 30 Minutes by road or 40 minute 1.6 mile walk across fields.
Whilst strictly not in Glanvilles Wootton, the Hunters Moon Inn is just a short 15-20 minute walk across the fields. Ideal for quenching your thirst after a stroll through the countryside.
Just over 2.5 miles away and a 7 minute drive is the Gaggle of Geese pub in Buckland Newton. This is a great pub for all the family, including young children, with a variety of events.
This beautiful 16th century former coaching inn is an iconic building located in the heart of Cerne Abbas village, with local beers on tap and an amazing wine selection.

For lunch you can choose from the daily menu or our à la carte menu offers a variety of options to suit your appetite, from three courses to lighter bites. 100 yards from Sherborne Abbey stands the splendid D'Urberville Café. Sited in a succession of rooms over several floors in an old characterful building. This French style café and antiques shop serves vegan coffee, tea, cakes and pastries, and light hot food options. All of which are delicious. In the evening it turns into a cocktail bar.
Dating back to 1590, this beautiful historic inn is directly opposite the famous Sherborne Abbey, serving small plates. Expect to see seasonal Italian & West-country ingredients used, with a minimum of fuss, to make authentic, occasionally quirky, Italian home-made dishes. All pasta, bread & sauces are made fresh daily. The cauliflower dish is a must!
A bustling coffee house on the picturesque Sherborne high street. It still has many of the original Art Deco features from the 1920s including the solid teak carved shop front and the tiling. Inside it's full of rustic character. A great place to stop for a coffee and pastry whilst perusing papers. We particularly like the quiche of the day.
Just around the corner from Sherborne Abbey, you will find Tamburino. An independent Italian restaurant with Italian owners. The atmosphere is of a true Italian nature in both service and in the authenticity of the food. The team are passionate and the menu choices range from à la carte to traditional dishes.
The Queens Arms in Corten Denham (10 minute drive north of Sherborne) is a 5 Star Country Inn and Pub, offering great drinks and delicious local food. Once a cider house, it offers candlelit tables, log fires and quality, locally produced food. The large terrace outside is simply wonderful to enjoy with a glass of wine. It's hard to beat.
From the Old Post Office, just before you reach Sherborne, head east 1 mile to The Elms. Spectacular far reaching views and delicious food await you. In addition to their infamous brunch from 9 - 11.30am, they run their lunch menu from 12pm daily Tuesday - Saturday, followed by cream teas and a selection of treats from 2.30pm.
4 miles to the west (an 8 minute drive from Sherborne), you'll find this beautiful 14th Century Inn. From tasty starters to sumptuous main courses, Sunday Lunches rounded off with a delectable dessert, to any one of their light bites and platters, the Rose and Crown has a delicious choice of food, aswell as drinks on tap.
Set amongst beautiful Lavender, the Story Pig cafe is lovely to visit of a weekend. The traditional free-range Tamworth pig farm is 4 miles north (10 minute drive from Sherborne). Eat, drink, relax and soak up the homegrown hospitality and spectacular west country views at their Dorset lavender field café. Friday nights are Pizza night!
