100 yards from Sherborne Abbey stands the splendid D'Urberville Café. Sited in a succession of rooms over several floors in an old characterful building. This French style café and antiques shop serves vegan coffee, tea, cakes and pastries, and light hot food options. All of which are delicious. In the evening it turns into a cocktail bar.
Dating back to 1590, this beautiful historic inn is directly opposite the famous Sherborne Abbey, serving small plates. Expect to see seasonal Italian & West-country ingredients used, with a minimum of fuss, to make authentic, occasionally quirky, Italian home-made dishes. All pasta, bread & sauces are made fresh daily. The cauliflower dish is a must!
A bustling coffee house on the picturesque Sherborne high street. It still has many of the original Art Deco features from the 1920s including the solid teak carved shop front and the tiling. Inside it's full of rustic character. A great place to stop for a coffee and pastry whilst perusing papers. We particularly like the quiche of the day.
Just around the corner from Sherborne Abbey, you will find Tamburino. An independent Italian restaurant with Italian owners. The atmosphere is of a true Italian nature in both service and in the authenticity of the food. The team are passionate and the menu choices range from à la carte to traditional dishes.
The Queens Arms in Corten Denham (10 minute drive north of Sherborne) is a 5 Star Country Inn and Pub, offering great drinks and delicious local food. Once a cider house, it offers candlelit tables, log fires and quality, locally produced food. The large terrace outside is simply wonderful to enjoy with a glass of wine. It's hard to beat.
